About the alliance
The University of Aberdeen and Curtin University have been working together closely since 2015, building a strong relationship and laying the foundations for an alliance that will provide innovative solutions to global problems.
The Aberdeen-Curtin Alliance was established in early 2017, combining 500 years of academic strength, history and tradition at Scotland’s University of Aberdeen with the ambition and innovation of the rapidly growing Curtin University, based in Perth, Western Australia.
The alliance is a broad collaboration spanning the areas of business, health sciences, medicine, engineering, energy and creative arts. It draws on the strengths of both universities to deliver high-impact research and innovative coursework programs across all these areas.
It has the potential to deliver many meaningful outcomes including transnational education opportunities in mutually strategic global markets, increased opportunities for student and staff mobility, a leveraging of international industry connections, and enhanced research capabilities.
While the alliance is diverse in its offerings, Aberdeen and Curtin are situated in the energy capitals of their respective continents, and both universities have established themselves as leaders in energy-related research. The alliance’s Global Energy Institute aims to capitalise on this shared strength and foster excellence in energy research and teaching.
Over time, the alliance will explore and develop all possible synergies between Aberdeen and Curtin, to maximise the combined research strength, reach, and global reputation of the universities, and will ultimately help solve real-world problems through long-term collaboration.
