Research activity

Curtin and Aberdeen share a global outlook and understand that in order to be leaders in research and make a global impact it is essential to have significant international collaboration.

That is the ultimate goal of this alliance – to explore and develop areas of mutual interest; to combine our strengths in research; to provide innovative solutions to global problems and to further improve the international reputations of both universities.

Both universities have complementary research strengths, skills and capabilities in the energy field but also in other core areas such as health, arts and business with collaborative research projects identified in each field.

Collaborative PhDs

The alliance offers students the opportunity to undertake a collaborative PhD in projects across a broad range of focus areas including energy and engineering, health and medicine, creative arts and business.

Students undertaking a collaborative PhD under the alliance are offered a seamless international experience and a number of studentships/scholarships are available. You will spend time at each institution and will be supervised by both Aberdeen and Curtin research staff. Further information on current PhD Scholarships is available here
